OSRAM OPTO SEMICONDUCTORS The band of inspiration // Showroom, Regensburg

After the successful trade fair appearance at electronica, Studio Bachmannkern was commissioned to design the Osram Otto Semiconductors showroom in Regensburg. The aim: to present Osram OS as a dynamic and innovative company and to create an extraordinary experience.

The concept idea was not only to design the showroom, but also to stage the way there. For this purpose, the "band of inspiration" was taken up, which had already been used at electronica. Adapted as a signpost, five ribbons grow out of the wall in the entrance area, taking the visitor on a journey of experience. At first running evenly, they begin to oscillate in different ways and create an increasing dynamic. From the entrance area, across the corridor, through a tunnel of light, the visitor is finally led into the heart of the building - the showroom.

The special feature of the showroom is that it is not an ordinary exhibition space, but an experience space of a special kind. During the demonstration, the visitor is detached from space and time and experiences an unforgettable room show. Here, the ribbons connect and form an elliptical space that looks like the set of a science fiction film.
